The Coffee Table Adventure

Gray and I started searching about a week ago for a coffee table. It was something we didn’t buy when we first got married because space was limited. Space is still limited but we re-arranged and now have enough room.

Our journey started by looking at Wal-mart and Target for a cheap, but not crappy, coffee table. Let me tell you, it’s hard to find such an item that won’t break when you look at it the wrong way.

We expanded our search to several stores including Goodwill, K-Mart, and Roses. Each store had coffee tables, but they were all more than we were willing to pay with crappy handmanship.

We even went to Big Lots, but their coffee tables were all over $100. My last plan of action was to Craiglists a coffee table, but before I could do that, we found a consignment furniture shop next to Goodwill.

I had been scared to go into the consignment shop, probably because furniture stores usually scare me with their salesmen. So, I sent Gray in to look without me and he reported back that the coffee tables were all very out of our budget, as in $300 and more.

After we exhausted the other stores and were about to pay $100 for a coffee table, I decided to go back to the consignment shop and look around myself.

I was pleased that the store had no obnoxious salespeople to nag me into some “great deal.” Instead, we were able to walk around and enjoy the store (which had some great furniture!) on our own.

I bet you are wondering what we found. Unforunately I forgot to take a picture of our coffee table, but the original price on it was $40 and we got it for 25% off. It was a great deal for us and I’m so glad we looked around before we spent money.
