Why is the computer ssshing you?!
I am applying for nursing school this fall. In order to do so, I had a few “tasks” to complete, namely pre-requisitclasses that are required. MTSU takes your ACT/SAT score and converts it to a 4.0 scale. They then add that score to your current GPA and if you have any clinical experience, add those points. If I were to take my current GPA and my ACT score and add them together I’d have a 6.1 something for my “score.” Although that’s pretty decent, let’s do some math.
Let’s say a girl had a 4.0 GPA and got a 25 on the ACT. The 25 converts to a 2.78 so her total would be 6.78. Do you see how much higher her score would be compared to mine?
Well, obviously I can’t change my GPA and even if I could, it would be in small increments. However, I can change my ACT score and to do that, I must re-take the ACT. The school of nursing only accepts 64 students each semester into their nursing program and the higher your score, the better your chances of being accepted.
Gray and I went out and bought an ACT study book yesterday and I took a diagnostic test on the computer. It turned out that I’m still really good in English/Reading but my Math and Science skills suck… seriously. Although I will say that I skipped at least 14 questions on the math section because I can’t remember how to do any of the problems! On the real test, if I at least guessed on a few I have the possibility of still getting the correct answer. You don’t get penalized on the ACT for guessing.
Gray decided to play Star Wars Lego’s when I was taking my diagnostic test. I kept hearing “shh” and the sound of something breaking while I was taking the test. We assumed that it was sound activated but our attempts at snapping or shouting into the microphone did nothing. When I finished the test I messed around with the settings and that’s when I discovered the “distracting sounds” option was enabled. Yes, those sounds were meant to distract me (and they did!) like a real test environment.
I don’t know about you, but I think that’s hilarious!
I’m re-taking the ACT in August or September so from now until then it’s study time!
