Training for a 5k
SO, today I decided to start training for a 5k. I’m planning on running in the Dunkin’ Donuts 5k November 8th, so that leaves me with about 5 weeks to train, yikes! Luckily, I’ve done the Couch to 5k program before and I’m a bit more advanced than others just starting out.
Things I noticed while running today:
- My shins no longer hurt! This is a HUGE sign to me that I’m running correctly.
- I was able to run for about fifteen minutes before feeling sluggish. I decided to stop after 17.5 minutes because I don’t want to overwork myself when I haven’t run that much in like two months!
I must admit that I came home and ate some chips and dip. Sigh, no one is perfect, right?
Tomorrow I will cross train using the EA Sports active exercises and then Wednesday I will take a break, hooray!
The great thing about running is that it totally relieves all your stress, which is AMAZING.

that's cool you're planning to run a 5k. my roommate and i are doing one this saturday in brentwood. i've been training for about 5 weeks…and i'm up to 3.5 to 4 miles! i'm pretty proud of myself. haha.
Wow Lory, you go girl!
Yeah, I did the Couch to 5k program this summer but couldn't afford to run a 5k at that time. :)
