Happy Birthday Trina!
I remember the first time I met her. I had just moved into my new dorm room, diagonally across the hall from her. My resident assistant, Teresa was talking to Trina and when I was leaving my room, she insisted on introducing us. I had no idea then how much of an impact Trina would have on my life.
I remember that first meeting, mainly because the reactions from everybody were so great. I was with the guy I was dating at the time and a little worn out from moving my stuff into the room. Teresa was excited, as she always is, and Trina seems a little weird-ed out.
I can’t remember the exact conversation, just the expressions on all of our faces… it’s interesting to think back to now that it’s been almost six years… six years!
Trina and I ended up in the same bible study, lead by Teresa that year, but it wasn’t until the spring semester that we got to know each other better. First it was the ride to Taco Bell that she asked me to go with her, a ride I remember distinctly because I was bored and, “Hey that girl I really like wants to hang out with me!” After that was spring break and life stories, although I don’t quite remember which came first… The funny thing is I remember after life stories that Mandy told me, “I really want to get to know Trina better.” I remember that because in my head I was thinking, “ugh, but she’s MY Trina, not yours.” haha Seems funny to look back on.
Regardless, Trina and I got to know each other better over spring break and soon became good friends. She was a Psychology major in college so I would go to her for “therapy.”
I could spend days talking about every little detail but I’m going to hit some important highlights.
Trina is my only friend who knows pretty much everything about me, including some dark spots in my past and she still loves me for them. She was there during a breakup, a new relationship, and was a bridesmaid in my wedding. She loves to watch crappy, drama filled television with me, and we both love to read.
Did you know that Trina is my mama? Somehow I managed to make all my friends a motherly figure of my life and Trina is Mama Sita Trinita (Did I get that right, Trina?).
You know true friendship when they stick by you even when you get married or don’t seem them daily.
So Trina, here is to the 5-1/2 years I’ve known you, I think it’s crazy that we’ve been friends for so long, but I’m glad to finally have a friend who isn’t ditching me, and you’ll never ditch me, because I will track you down, mwhahahaha!
Happy Birthday, Mama Sita Trinita.

Hahaha. This is funny and sweet.
See, if I had never had a perverted stalker in he lobby, I would have never needed someone to come with me as my bodyguard to Taco Bell that night.

@Trina, And then spring break would have just been awkward.
