Dreams?

OK, this is not really a dream, but I thought I’d share because anyone who has heard my dreams knows they are weird and crazy.

Last night I climbed in bed at like 7:30 p.m.. I did not take a nap but I was soooooo tired and well, I knew there wasn’t anything on television that I wanted to watch that couldn’t wait until the next day. I convinced Gray to cuddle with me until I fell asleep.

Well, next thing I know, I wake up as Gray is coming back to bed (four hours later) and I feel with my left hand a book, that was in bed with me. This particular book is one I’ve read before and read every so often, “The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands.” The book was open (face down) on my nightstand when I went to sleep.

Folks, I have no idea HOW that book got to the middle of the bed. I don’t sleep walk, but I have been known to turn off my alarm in my sleep, so I guess it’s plausible that I did reach over and grab it, but I definitely don’t remember it at all. Not to mention, there is no reason why I grabbed it because I was too tired to read. I’m lazy like that and won’t touch the [many] books on my nightstand if I am tired.

So I accused Gray of placing it there to get me to read it. He claims he didn’t move it, but I mean, I just KNOW I couldn’t have…

Weird, right? I can promise you that I did not dream any of that, but someday I will have to share some of my dreams. The most recent one involved aliens coming to take over. I might have been watching too much V…

We have a long history of violent sleep-walking episodes in my family. My grandfather once kicked through a door and carried my dad, his brother and sister, and my grandmother outside into the cold night because he believed the house was on fire. He kicked through many a glass window and somehow never hurt himself.

Now, the few episodes that I have had SCARE me. Because I have no memory of what happened, but something clearly did. The worst one was when I was staying at my grandparents' house (yes, the same ones I mentioned above) and I woke up the next morning with stickers in my feet, scratches on my arms, and the front door wide open. I had been outside. Goodness only knows how far I walked or where I went. Thankfully (or maybe not so?) they live in the country and I didn't wander into a street or anything.

Since then I've been really careful about making sure hotel doors are deadbolted so that I don't manage to escape in my sleep. For me, I think the trigger is being in a strange place.

I just wrote a book on your blog :)

@Elizabeth, Now that I think about it, my mom has had a sleep walking episode before, but it's just not that common.

Gray says all the time that I say strange stuff in my dreams so apparently there is a world of stuff I do while I'm asleep that I am not aware of.

It definitely feels weird though, to wake up and realize you did something while asleep!

@Elizabeth, Oh and I'm curious, did any of your grandfather's family wake up as he carried them outside?

@Becca, They were all totally awake and scared out of their minds. I think they got used to it after a while though.

Hahaha! My first thought was that Gray had put it in your hand to get you to read something specific, or just to say he was hungry.

@Trina, My first thought (and why I accused him) was that he wanted me to read something in the book, since it is all about loving your husband and appreciating him.

    hehe
