Review and Giveaway: He is We
Ever since I can remember, I’ve loved music. These days my tastes vary a lot, and that probably drives Gray crazy because we usually don’t agree on music… but we did agree on a band who call themselves He is We.
He is We are Rachel Taylor and Trevor Kelly, who met while working at Ted Brown Music in Tacoma, Washington. The duo began playing together and the rest is history.
Their début album, My Forever, is what I would consider indie pop. A mixture of slow, soft love songs with some edgier pop songs. For me, they are a cross between bands like The Fray and Colbie Caillat. Taylor’s vocals remind me a lot of Colbie, actually, but with an edgier, almost raw sound.
I listened to this album with my husband the first time around and we were pleasantly surprised by the entire set list. While his favorite song was their first single, Happily Ever After, I find myself playing All About Us and Forever and Ever over and over again. In fact, All About Us is my favorite from the album and I’ve memorized it and found myself singing it in my head while I was taking a test this morning. The song is that good.
