Review: Mary Kay
I’m going to be making this blog a little more versatile. I’ve already been doing reviews on books and music, and now I’m going to be adding makeup reviews.
The first makeup review is for Mary Kay. To continue reading, just click more below.
So, BlogHer asked for people who wanted to do Mary Kay reviews, and I jumped at the chance. I’ve never owned any Mary Kay makeup, but I’ve been to “shows” before and used the makeup. I never felt like it was very memorable, but it’s popular in certain circles.
They sent me some samples, specifically, from their new eye color matching eyeshadow compacts. I received the brown eye kit, which is interesting because my eyes are actually hazel.
The first time I tried the color combination I was not a fan. To be honest, the applicator tools are tiny and don’t work well. I had to use my own brushes the second time around. So basically, with their brushes, the kits are not going to be used as well.

The second time I tried the kit I liked it a lot better, probably because I was using nicer tools that worked. I also used an eyeshadow primer.
While I’m not a huge fan of the blue, the highlight color blends in very well with my skin. I was having a hard time using the small brush that came with it, so a good makeup brush will be needed to blend the eyeshadow.
Overall I’d give it 3/5 stars.
I received a free sample of this Mary Kay makeup via BlogHer for review purposes only. All opinions are my own.
