Shrinking Jeans, here I come!
Back in August I started working out regularly. I really wanted to lose a little weight and feel better about myself. Well, after a month or so, I kicked it to the curb. I got lazy, wanted to eat more, and stopped exercising.
Yesterday I officially joined Weight Watchers. I’m not happy with my weight, which is a little above the bar of normalcy for my age and height. I want to lose about 25 lbs, which would take me down to where I was over a year ago. Yes, I’ve gained 25 lbs in a year, maybe even less.
I was always a skinny child and never had a problem with my weight until 2005. I went to Clearwater that summer on a mission trip and gained 20 lbs. I’m serious. I noticed about halfway through the summer that I was not fitting into my jean shorts. I fit into all my other clothing fine, but not those darn shorts. I didn’t really put two and two together until I got home and realized how much weight I had gained in a three month setting.
Luckily, I lost it all in the following school year and kept it off until around this time last year. At first, it was just five or so extra pounds, but as we all remember, I was a bride to be with a wedding gown to fit into. By the time I got married in May, my wedding dress was wearable, but a little tight.
When I went to work in June I was already heavier, but I could fit into my jeans still. Not anymore. I’m not able to fit into a few pairs of jeans and am consistently in my “fat” jeans, aka the jeans that are usually hanging off my waist now fit comfortably. Eek.
So, I joined Weight Watchers. I realized my portions were really out of control and I was eating too much. My metabolism is just not what it used to be and I need to get used to that fact. Now, the way WW works is that I received points to spend on food each day. I keep track of them and if I stay in my points, eventually I should lose weight. I also need to be exercising during this time. I will be weighing in every Monday and will let you know how much I’ve lost or gained. I’m doing this not only for me, but also for my husband. He needs to lose some weight as well and if I’m cooking healthier food, that will help him at the same time. In three months from now, I should have lost the weight, as long as I stick to the plan.
Please notice the new graphic on the right. I’m joining up with the Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans as motivation to this weight loss. The beauty of Weight Watchers is that I can whatever I want, as long as I control my portions. I’m VERY excited about the potential in this.
So here goes nothing!
