So, many of your are probably wondering what a diva cup is… fellows, you might want to not read the rest of the review as it’s going to deal solely with menstruation.
I was first introduced to the diva cup two years ago by a college roommate of mine. She bought the cup because it was supposedly good for dealing with cramps and pain associated with that time of the month.
I thought it was a good idea, you could save so much money by reusing a diva cup rather than tampons and pads, but at the time I wasn’t ready to invest the $30-50 I knew I’d have to pay to get one in my hands.
Fast forward to a month ago. I finally decided to purchase one, simply because I knew that long day at school would be a pain to deal with on “those” days.
I ended up purchasing type one, sized for women before they have kids or age 30, whichever comes first.
My biggest fear of using this cup was that it would get stuck up inside me. I am not the type of girl afraid of sticking things up there, I actually using the NuvaRing for birth control so it doesn’t phase me.
I must say, I was skeptical about the instructions that say the cup must easily turn for you to know it’s safely up in “there” and not going to leak. After a few times, I can say that this is the easiest thing I’ve ever done regarding my cycle. I was able insert the cup without issues, the only thing I did to change anything was to trim the stem as it was irritating my skin.
If you aren’t afraid of taking more control of your cycle, this is a good route to go. You will finally know how your cycle works and you will save money and the environment. The diva cup is completely safe, no radiation or other chemicals leak out of it, whereas tampons do release chemicals. Diva cups are guaranteed for a year, but I’ve heard of them lasting far longer with good care. I bought the diva cup wash and have been using it to wash out my cup.
The best part of this for me is that I only have to empty the cup twice a day. The diva cup can stay in for as long as 12 hours so you don’t have to hassle with it while at work or school. Totally a win win for me.
I shopped around to find the best price and shipping fees, and I suggest the same for any product. There are several other menstrual cups out there, so you can research and find the one that suits you best. The only different between diva cup type 1 and 2 is the width, with type 2 being slightly wider for obvious reasons.
I bought the Diva Cup myself and was not sponsored or paid to do this review by anyone. All opinions are my own based upon my experiences.
