Hosanna, Hosanna!

by Becca

I signed up to teach the three year olds at church because I knew they needed help. I also knew that three year olds are sweet and a handful.

I haven’t been disappointed.

Yesterday was my second Sunday of teaching and it was so much fun! I am definitely not meant to be a school teacher, I don’t have enough energy to do this on a daily basis. I don’t know how I could ever be a daycare worker, too much work!

However, these kids were adorable. Yesterday was palm Sunday so we learned about the Triumphal entry. The kids cut out leaves to represent palm branches and they got to welcome “Jesus” into town. Next week we’re doing the resurrection story and I think they will be coloring, and I must admit I am rather nervous about teaching such an important concept.

The best part about yesterday? Seeing Jenny Rone and signing up for Hart 2 Hart! I am so excited that we are starting this (a mentoring ministry with the women at church) and I signed up to mentor and be mentored. Teaching the kids and being in community group is getting me more involved at church and I am definitely getting to know more people and starting to feel more at home. God proves to be faithful to Gray and myself and we’re thankful to have a body of people to encourage and support us through these first years of marriage.

On a side note, we did a lot of re-arranging on Saturday and Chile now has his own “room.”

Our living room is much more open and hopefully it will stay that way!

We’re so ready for a house, but that won’t be for another year at least, but probably longer.

Top of the morning to yah.

I kind of forgot I had a blog for the past few days. We haven’t been insanely busy, just the normal deal going on.

This week I found out that I passed my Anatomy and Physiology test, which made me overjoyed! I know have a chance in passing this class and I’m going to study hard so I do pass.

Gray started applying for a summer job, and I hope he gets one soon!

He also signed up to work for ChaCha with me so we’ll have a little extra spending money. ChaCha has been doing insanely well lately, but I don’t have the time to do much with it, go figure.

Today we re-arranged the living room a lot and gathered up some cans of food to give away. We drove to the square to see if a local food bank was open, but they weren’t. Along the way we came across a Scottish Clan festival! Today is tartan today, apparently, so we stopped by. My dad’s mom was a Hamilton (Scottish) and then the family moved from Scotland to Ireland, so I’m Scots-Irish from his side. I found the Hamilton clan on the old Scotland map.

I’m very proud of my heritage because I think it’s really cool to figure out where you come from. About two years ago I discovered that I am 1/64 German, something I had never thought of before.

The only other thing going on around here is that I’ve been doing the hula hoop challenge at the Sisterhood, my best score was 3420 and I think I quit for the night. It’s been great exercise.

Tomorrow I have to teach the 3 year olds again and I’m rather nervous again. sigh
