Parade of Gifts

by Becca

SO, we got some amazing gifts for Christmas.

I’ll just do my list because it’ll be hard to do Gray’s… K?

From The Sanborns:
The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold
Make it Fast, Cook it Slow by Stephanie O’dea
The Sims 3 World Adventures Expansion Pack!
Twilight on DVD!
Plus some earrings, a fluffy brown blanket, an ornament, and some stuff I’m probably forgetting but it’s just as good. Caleb gave me some fluffy socks and then Taylor gave us all toy guns, slime, and mind puzzles.

We got some coasters and cocoa from Gray’s aunt and uncle and money from his grandparents, brothers, and parents.

We used money that my parents gave us and from the rest of them to purchase my favorite present of all:

Basically, my dream present is on its way to me! It should be arriving tomorrow.

We also purchased Guitar Hero: World Tour and that is what we will be doing on New Years Eve. :)

I’ll try to write up the rest of the holidays while it is still fresh, but for now I’m watching 500 Days of Summer and hopefully taking down the Christmas tree.

Merry Christmas!

by Becca

It’s Christmas Eve and I’m sitting at my parent’s house, listening to the wind outside. It will probably not be a white Christmas for us, more like a rainy and wet day instead. We will be eating brunch with my siblings and their spouses/kids tomorrow and then heading out on the trek towards Memphis for part two of Christmas.

I’m going to start working on a New Year’s resolutions post, but first I wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. We are so blessed and fortunate to be able to celebrate such an amazing thing as the birth of our Savior.

I get a little ruffled at Christmas because I tire of all the Santa talk. I bought presents for my loved ones because I simply, love them. I like to see them happy on Christmas when they open something I picked out for them. The truth is, I don’t want my kids to grow up believing in Santa to be real or the big deal. Will my kids learn about jolly old St. Nick? Yes, but he won’t be anything more than a fictional character based upon a generous old man who did great things in Europe. I love Santa movies, but I love even more the real story behind Christmas.

Anyway, I hope you are your family have a wonderful, merry Christmas!

It’s the MOST Wonderful Time of the Year!

by Becca

So, first things first…

My glasses arrived Friday. They are progressive lenses made specifically for my eyes to adjust to different focal points. Basically, I will be able to read up close, medium, and distantly by looking through the lenses in different ways.

Our tree is up and decorated! No presents are under it yet because I’m an exhausted human being right now. We went shopping yesterday and bought ALL of the gifts (minus our gifts to each other). It made for a cranky Gray and Becca but we survived.

I am so happy the tree is up because now officially beings my favorite time of the year!.

Christmas 2008

Let’s pretend Christmas wasn’t almost a month ago, ok? Ok.

So, long story short, we spent a few days before Christmas in Memphis and had lunch with Gray’s family on Christmas day. Then we went to my hometown and spent a few days with my family, eating dinner the day after Christmas at a pizza place in town.

Thomas the Tank Engine

by Becca

100_6124

This is Thomas, he lives at at the Peabody hotel in Memphis, Tennessee.

We have no real news from the Sanborn household other than we got Comcast today with free television! I watched the Price is Right this morning with Drew Carey and got depressed that Bob was there no more. So I flipped over to Fox and watched the new “Who Wants to be a Millionaire”, which is SO weird now!

I’ve spent the majority of the day playing Zelda on the Wii. It’s been nice to relive the old memories of my childhood. I’m much better at it than I was back then. We also purchased a new game for the Wii that won’t be arriving for a week or more, the Wii Fit. After calling and harassing stores, we finally gave in and ordered it online. I’m super excited about it. We also found Star Wars Lego for $20 and got that as well. The funny part was when we got home, ate lunch, and then opened the Star Wars game and it ended up being Lego Batman. The guy who sold it to us has been trying to convince us that Batman was awesome.

We also went to school to get my new student id made. I had to put my hand in this sensor type machine so that I can use the rec center. It’s kind of complicated to explain I guess.

A post about Christmas is coming soon. Really.

Christmas Gatherings

by Becca

So I’m a little behind on everything regarding the blog. I have a lot of pictures to share, but right now I need to update you on our Community group gathering.

First off, it actually snowed right before Christmas… I know!

100_6065

I made PW’s Pecan Pie for our Christmas party. Everyone seemed to love it!

Our party was a lot of fun. Gray came home with a drill and boots and I got a candle and a few other small items that I used as Christmas gifts for family.

We did Christmas at home before we left for Memphis. Gray got socks, candy, and a headset. I got cake decorating utensils!

More pictures will follow soon, I just need to upload them all. We’re going to do Christmas with my family tonight. Today we went and deposited all our Christmas money, bought a “first Christmas together” ornament. Then we headed over to Wal-mart to get windshield wipers and Monopoly: Indiana Jones style!

Shrinking Jeans Week 3

by Becca

This past week was tough. When I weighed in on Monday I had only lost 1/2 a pound! However, considering what I dealt with, that 1/2 pound was very welcome!

We’ve been in Memphis at my in-laws since Sunday and they have a mini gym in the basement. So the past few days Gray and I have been working out a little. We probably won’t today, but I do believe it is helping us stay within our means this week.

So the weight loss total so far is 7.5 pounds in 3 weeks! I’m hoping for 10 pounds this next Monday, but I’ll take what I can get. My clothes are already fitting better and that makes me feel better. We still have a ways to go, but seeing some improvement helps. I’ve also been taking my measurements and I’m still coming down, which is amazing!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. We’re spending tomorrow traveling to my house after a lunch with Gray’s family.

Changes

by Becca

So, a lot has been on my mind lately. I can’t share much, because I’m not quite sure of everything. However, I will eventually. :)

All we have left is a Christmas party on Friday and then Sunday we drive to Memphis. It’s Chile’s first road trip and he bought him a carrier as his Christmas present. We’re actually going to take the truck instead of our car so we can transport his cage and accessories, not to mention all the Christmas presents!

One thing I’ve been thankful for is that our utilities were much cheaper this month. Thanks to high fuel prices in August/September, our electric bill soared the past few months. They charge us a fee that goes up and down based on need. It isn’t fun if it goes up, believe me!

I’m very sad the Titans lost today. It was depressing to get texts telling me we were behind. I was even sadder when I got the final score. They need to play better if they want a chance at the Superbowl!

Gray and I are looking forward to Christmas together as a married couple. We can’t wait to share photos and stories with you all. Weight loss update will probably come tomorrow or Wednesday.

7 months of marriage

by Becca

Yesterday we celebrated 7 months of marriage. The main reason I’m blogging about it is because for our six months of marriage we were unable to go out to eat.

Last night we joined Chad and Trina at a restaurant in town, Marina’s Italian and Pizza eatery.

Trina and Chad

We usually get together with these two once a month to hang out since we don’t all live together anymore. That is, Chad and Gray were roomies & Trina and I were roomies.

Christmas light present

Pretty Christmas presents in the window where we sat.

7 months of marriage!

We’ve put up with each other for almost 3 years, but legally, it’s been 7 months. :)

Downtown Murfreesboro

We exchanged gifts with them. We bought Chad a flash light that fits on his head and Trina got some soap and an ink cartridge (we had one left over from when I gave her my printer). She also has another gift, which I’m making and can’t reveal until it’s done.

Chad and Trina gave us a gift card to a local burger place and I got essence of Twilight body spray and lotion, named after Bella and Alice. I definitely giggled about it and they both smell fantastic!

After eating, we went over to the City Hall courtyard, a few blocks over and walked around, enjoying the Christmas lights.

Right now things are slowing down around here because Gray is done with his finals and work tonight. I think tomorrow he’s playing with some friends from school and then we’ll just be staying at home until it comes time to travel. We do have a Christmas party to go to with our community group, but other than that, it’s just nice to be at home for a while.
