Labor Day Weekend

by Becca

Gray and I drove to Memphis for the long weekend. Most people know that I’ve been wanting a puppy, and guess what was waiting for me:

Lucy

Unfortunately, this little Westie, named Lucy, was not for me. The Sanborns were dog sitting and I was overjoyed to help in that process.

Gray and I took Lucy on several walks and included some cuddle time in our schedule, just for her.

The weekend wasn’t just about dog sitting, we visited the Memphis City Zoo as well.

Lions

We saw Lions….

Cat Country was quite active with.. well… cats. If only Lucy would have met some of them… she terrorized Spit, the family cat, the entire weekend. Gray loved it. He’s not a big fan of Spit after an episode involving Gray’s truck, Spit being locked in, and a pile of poop. Yes, cat poop.

Back to the cats… they were everywhere.

Cats weren’t the only thing of interest. We went through a butterfly house. It was beautiful… I wouldn’t mind having a garden full of butterflies to read in, it would be nice.

As much fun as Memphis was, we had to come because the chinchilla needed to be taken care of… the little rat  angel managed to bend the wire that holds up his water bottle. We have no idea how long he was without water, but he seems to be fine now. We had quite a bit of fun with him last night. Pictures of that fun will surface another time. Right now I’m rather tired. It’s been a long day.

Another Year Older

by Becca

Today is my birthday and I am now 23 years old.

This past week has felt… surreal. I was excited about my birthday and the fact that I get to spend it with my husband, yet I am realizing that as we grow older, birthdays become less meaningful.

To celebrate with my friends, I went to a murder mystery party, hosted by Trina and Gray.

The apartment was decorated, including dead body.

The party itself was a lot of fun. I found out immediately that my character was the murderer so I had to keep a straight face and throw people off my trail. It was hard to do, mainly because the facts gave it away obviously.

Trina and Chad went all out on the decorating.

It looked pretty amazing.

Gray made me a cake and Trina made Chad cupcakes with sparkler candles. Overall, it was great and I was glad to spend some time with my friends. Work keeps me pretty busy and so I spend the majority of my free time with Gray these days.

Gray got me an ice cream cake for my birthday.

It’s pretty much the best cake… ever. haha

Today we went and got haircuts and then went to the pet store to play with puppies and kitties. We’re actually contemplating getting a kitten. Yes, we have a chinchilla already, but I really want either a kitten or a puppy and puppies are not quite as easy to have in an apartment. We’re going to be saving up for one, so we’ll see when we get it… I’m about halfway there. We saw a few siamese mix cats today and he agreed they were nice. The employees at the store said that siamese cats are more like dogs, they are vocal and get attached to their owners. We’ll see what happens…

My parents also came up and took us out to dinner. It was so nice to see them and we enjoyed spending some time with them. I wish we could go visit but I’d rather save our money than spend it on gas to get there.

And since this post is sort of random, here’s a picture of me and my little guy.

How much is that doggy in the window?

by Becca

I played with some puppies yesterday and fell in love. Gray took me to Petland because I was dying to get out of our teeny, tiny apartment and needed some interaction. Once I stepped inside I was in Heaven, or at least as close to Heaven on earth as it gets for me. I walk–not I ran to the windows full of puppies. I felt my face grinning (like an idiot) as my heart melted. Puppies do that for me, especially when there are fifteen and they all have sad faces.

We played with a Morkie who was very hyper and she kept biting my fingers. I wanted to hold her and tell her that, “Bitting fingers won’t get you adopted anytime soon.” I felt bad for her, they said she hadn’t been out to play in a while.

Our next and final playmate with the Yorkshire Terrier, my dream dog. After seeing Rachel’s dog Bello looking too darn cute, I was hooked. Our Yorkie was calm and playful and he licked my cheek. I would have taken him home, but he was a tad bit expensive and Gray said not yet.

I’ve decided that I’m definitely visiting Petland more often, those puppies need playmates and I want a dog desperately. I looked up Yorksire Terrier breeders around here when I got home and found a couple that I’m interested in. Their prices are more reasonable and their Yorkies are probably trained and better taken care of.

How can you not want one of these?
